Man on SDNY Supervised Release Is Arrested in Florida and Detained as Risk of Flight

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book

SDNY MAG COURT EXCLUSIVE, Feb 2 -  In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on February 2, a detention or bond proceeding was held by Magistrate Judge Jennifer E. Willis on a man arrested in Florida while on supervised release, after arrest on various New York State charged on December 21, 2022

The AUSA spoke of two domestic violence incidents.

The Federal Defender said he is 36 and the father of five children.

The AUSA said he was aware of the Federal warrant, but then said it would not say how it knew, for safety reasons.

Judge Willis said being on Florida, while on probation, spoke for itself. She ordered the defendant detained, at least pending an appearance before the District Judge in the week ending February 17.

The case is US v. Velasquez, 22-cr-572 (Caproni / Willis) - the case was still listed as sealed after the detention decision.
