By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 16 –  Jose Alvarez pleaded guilty to narcotics conspiracy, after being caught on wiretaps in connection with bringing drugs to Washington DC and elsewhere.

On December 16 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Denise L. Cote held his sentencing. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Cote offered condolence for the death of a family member. Alvarez spoke of his difficulties imprisoned during the pandemic, and asked for leniency.

Judge Cote sentenced him to 80 months, below the stipulated guidelines rang of 110 to 125 months, but above the 60 month mandatory minimum that Alvarez' lawyer was requested.

The case is US v. Alvarez, 19-cr-622 (Cote)
