The defendant
Russell Dwayne Lewis arrived
late in Mag Court, as
apparently the wrong Lewis was
identified by the New Jersey
jail he's been in since his
detention on November 23. That
was under a complaint; now
there's an information.
The
complaint described a victim
who believed Lewis was worth
$18 billion "and Lewis did not
deny or correct the
statement." He also "purported
to be able to provide
astrology readings" and to
have "friends in the LAPD."
Lewis
waived indictment and pled not
guilty.
Jump cut
to June 13, 2023 - Lewis, in
Essex Count Department of
Corrections yellow, pled
guilty to counts 1, 3 and 4,
with a guideline sentence of
87 to 102 months. He ascribed
it to "a lapse in judgment,"
then added greedy.
On November 6,
2023, Lewis got 102 months:
"RUSSELL DWAYNE LEWIS, a/k/a
“Clifford Ari Getz,” a/k/a
“Clifford Ari Getz Cohen,”
a/k/a “Ari Getz,” a/k/a “Aryeh
Getz,” was sentenced by U.S.
District Chief Judge Laura
Taylor Swain to 102 months in
prison for defrauding multiple
individuals out of millions of
dollars over a period of
years, using several aliases
and stolen identities."
The case is US v.
Lewis, 23-cr-32 (Swain / Cave)
