COURTHOUSE,
Jan 3 – A defendant charged
with fentanyl conspiracy was
presented before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Katharine H.
Parker on December 17. Inner
City Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag court.
While his
co-defendant was released on
$100,000 bond, this defendant
had an immigration detained
lodged against him. He
consented to detention.
On January 3,
2025 the case was indicted -
the first "real" criminal
indictment in 2025 in SDNY,
the first being a transfer of
jurisdiction - and was wheeled
out to Judge George B.
Daniels.
This case
is USA v. Ortiz, et al.,
1:25-cr-2 (Daniels)
