SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 1 – Michael Edwards
was arrested in July 2023 for
the federal crime of stealing
USPS mail.
He was released
on $50,00 bond and his case
was continued "in the interest
of justice."
On
November 1 he was back before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Gary Stein.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the SDNY Mag
court.
The AUSA
said Edwards had been arrested
in Connecticut and charged
with having a gun, and his
expired passport, in a safe.
The AUSA urged detention on
the Violation of Supervised
Release, and said there could
be a Felon in Possession
charge.
But Edwards
was again released, this time
home detention (allowed to
leave to work and for medical
or legal appointments).
His bond
was increased to $300,000
collateralized by his mother's
home in Bridgeport,
Connecticut.
The case
is US v. Edwards, et
al., 23-mj-5416 (Stein)
