Feb 26 – On January 24 the
SDNY US Attorney's Office
announced charges against
Bronx-based immigration
attorney KOFI AMANKWAA and his
son, KOFI AMANKWAA, JR., for
carrying out a large-scale
immigration fraud scheme
exploiting the Violence
Against Women Act.
When
the father was presented
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Chief Magistrate Judge
Sarah Netburn, Inner City
Press was there, as were two
or three of the defendant's
family members in the gallery.
The
Assistant US Attorney agreed
that he could be released on
$250,000 bond, secured by his
residence in New Jersey (the
address was given but we are
not publishing it).
Jump cut to
February 26, 2025, when the
father was sentenced to 70
months in prison.
