SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Aug 13 – On May 9 DOJ
announced the unsealing of two
Complaints charging flight
attendants CHARLIE HERNANDEZ,
SARAH VALERIO PUJOLS, EMMANUEL
TORRES, and JAROL FABIO with
various offenses in connection
with their years-long
participation in smuggling
narcotics trafficking proceeds
from the United States to the
Dominican Republic on
commercial flights.
Inner City Press went to cover
the presentment of Emmanuel
Torres, before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Magistrate Judge Gary Stein. Thread
Jump cut to
August 12 when Torres pled
guilty to a single count of
operating an unlicensed MTB,
from 2019 not 2015, before
Magistrate Judge Sarah L.
Cave, with his case assigned
to District Judge Colleen
McMahon.
On August 13,
another of the defendants pled
guilty before a different
District Judge, Amit
Subramanian - who asked why
the defendants are being sent
to different judges, allowing
for inefficiency, he said, and
lack of consistency. He said
he will continue to think on
it, while setting sentencing
for defendant Fabio for
November 15 at 2 pm. Fabio got
an 18 to 24 month plea
agreement, and signed for
$2100 in forfeiture.
This case is US
v. Fabio, 24-mj-1724, 24-cr-__
(Subramanian)
The case is US v.
Torres, et al., 24-cr-474
(McMahon / Cave)
