SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Sept 13 – Two men charged with
selling fentanyl and guns out
of one of their
superintendent's office in The
Bronx were presented for bail
or detention on September 13
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Magistrate Judge Gary
Stein. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag court.
The first
defendant, portrayed as more
involved in the drugs,
consented to detention. But
the superintendent argued for
bail.
The AUSA
said the man and his wife have
two luxury cars - an Audi and
an Alfa Romeo - and a home in
Connecticut. The
Federal Defender replied the
home is in Waterbury, which he
called not affluent, and that
there remain large loans on
the two cars.
Judge
Stein said the superintendent
can be released - but after
more AUSA argument, that it
would only be after all
conditions are met: four
signatories, and a lien on the
Connecticut house.
The case
is US v. Garcia, et al.,
24-mj-824 (Stein)
