SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Sept 19 – A defendant was
arrested and quickly released,
and his case disappeared from
PACER, in the U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York on
September 19. Inner City Press
was there, the only media in
the SDNY courtroom.
Before the
proceeding formally began, the
Assistant US Attorney and the
Federal Defender went up for a
whispered sidebar with the
Magistrate Judge. Then, they
held a public proceeding, in
which the judge referred to a
"sealed complaint."
The AUSA
said his Office agreed to
release on $100,000 bond and
two co-signers in a week, but
release on his own signature
that very day.
At first,
the case - albeit without
details - was in PACER.
By 7 pm the
entire thing was done, typing
in the defendant's name
resulted in "No information
was found that matched the
search criteria
entered."
The case is
US v. [Sealed],
24-mj-___
