SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
May 6 – Announcing a
fine, DOJ in late 2024 stated
that "MCKINSEY AFRICA, acting
through McKinsey Senior
Partner VIKAS SAGAR, agreed to
pay bribes to then-officials
at Transnet SOC Ltd, South
Africa’s state-owned and
state-controlled custodian of
ports, rails, and pipelines,
and at Eskom Holdings Limited
, South Africa’s state-owned
and state-controlled energy
company.
McKinsey
paid a fine. But now Sagar's
sentencing continues to be
delayed, with redactions.
On May 6, the
sentencing was pushed from
June 5 to September 18, with
the full middle paragraph -
all of the substance -
redacted. Inner City Press
found the cryptic letter in
the docket at the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York,
which it closely covers.
The case is
docketed as USA v. Sealed,
1:22-cr-710 (McMahon)
