For Drug Dealing in the UK Man Tracked to Hilton on 40th Street Now Signs for Extradition

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 3 – A man wanted in the UK for drug trafficking in Portsmouth was arrested Saturday in the Hilton Double Tree in Times Square in NYC. He was presented and ordered detained and extradited on February 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrates Court, which Inner City Press closely covers.

The US Attorney's Office filed a Sealed Complaint for Provisional Arrest with a View Toward Extradition of Samuel Joseph Watts. It recounted the UK's allegations, including that Watts conspired with others "as part of an Organized Crime Group to supply crack cocaine and heroin to drug users in Portsmouth, England."

In the UK, Watts was released on bail - then did not show up in the Portsmouth Magistrates Court.

Then U.S. Marshals, "with the assistance of UK law enforcement, traced the IP address used by Watts to access his suspected AirBnB to the Hilton Double Tree in Times Square" - where he was registered under his true name.

On February 3 he was ordered detained, and he signed  consent to extradition back to the UK.

The case is USA v. Watts, 1:25-mj-349 (Wang)
