SDNY COURTHOUSE,
July 18 – Javaughn Horton, a
felon, is charged with being
in possession of a 9mm caliber
shell casing.
On
October 24, 2023 Horton was
brought for arraignment before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Katharine H.
Parker. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag court.
Horton
pleaded not guilty. The
prosecutor said on this felon
in possession charge, they
would seek detention.
Horton's CJA
lawyer said he was consenting
to detention.
On December 11,
co-defendant Markel Eure was
brought into the SDNY
Magistrates Court. Inner City
Press was there. Eure
consented to detention on the
Hobbs Act robbery conspiracy
charges.
On December 19,
Horton not before Judge Clarke
but rather Magistrate Judge
Gabriel W. Gorenstein pled not
guilty to four counts, 1s, 2s,
3s and 4s.
On May 9, 2024
Horton pleaded guilty to Count
4s, with sentencing now set
for August 14.
On July 18,
Horton's lawyer wrote in and
asked for a sentence no
greater than 54 months.
