SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 6 –
Carlos
Fernando Melo
is charged
with a
conspiracy to
import cocaine
into the US
from Colombia,
and attempts
to buy
explosives for
the FARC and
ELN in
Colombia.
On March 6,
U.S. District
Court for the
Southern
District of
New York Judge
Sidney H.
Stein held a
proceeding.
Inner City
Press went and
covered
it.
Judge Stein
asked the
Assistant US
Attorney and
defense
counsel why
they asked for
extensions.
Defense
counsel said
there is an
attempt to
"confirm"
things in
Colombia; he
said if it is
not brought to
conclusion
soon, he will
file a letter
- under
seal.
Inner City
Press might
oppose that.
Judge Stein
said the
parties should
work to
expedite the
case. The next
proceeding is
set for April
10 at 11 a.m.
The
case is US v.
Melo,
21-cr-311
(Stein)
