SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 20 – Jonathan Johnson, for
dealing heroin and MDMA,
robbing a drug dealer and
while in jail possessing a
cellphone and K2, was
sentenced to time served and
"long term residential
treatment" in November 2022.
On October
5, 2023, he was bought back in
detention before U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York Judge
Richard M. Berman. Inner City
Press was there, the only
media in the courtroom.
Judge
Berman said the release to a
28 day detox, and then to a
boat job in Maine, would not
be enough. This time, he said,
a true psychiatric evaluation
would be needed.
Jump cut
to February 20, 2025 - Johnson
was brought into SDNY
Magistrate Court, where two
Quinn Emanuel lawyers
represented him and consented
to detention, for "leaving
sober housing." Judge Berman,
Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn
said, will see him next week.
The case is USA
v. Johnson, 1:21-cr-786
(Berman)
