Man Arrested on LaSalle Street in Manhattan Sues NYPD in SDNY For Excessive Force

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 11 – Ali Moore was taken into custody by police in front his building at 70 LaSalle Street in Manhattan on October 1, 2021.

He is bipolar and says it was unnecessarily violent. He sued.

On March 8, 2023 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York  Judge Lorna G. Schofield held a proceeding. Inner City Press covered it.

Judge Schofield ordered the defendants to produce records relevant to the incidents by March 22, with the plaintiff to amend the complaint by March 29, addressing deficiencies raised by NYCHHC.

If new individual defendants are added, Corporation Counsel must determine whether to represent them by April 26, with a later due by May 3 and discovery stayed until then.

The case is Moore v. City of New York et al., 22-cv-10957 (Schofield)
