SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Feb 5 – A man sentenced
to two years in prison then
supervised release entered
into Federal custody on
November 25, 2024 in Norfolk,
Virginia for allegedly
violating supervision.
He was
transported - at length,
presumably through Oklahoma -
to answer the charges in the
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York.
On January 7, 2025 he arrived
and was imprisoned in the MDC
Brooklyn.
But no one
told SDNY.
It was only
on February 5 that the US
Attorney's Office says it
learned that Antonio Eaddy was
in MDC. He was presented
before SDNY Magistrate Judge
Ona T. Wang. Inner City Press
was there, the only media in
the SDNY Mag Court.
Judge Wang
released Eaddy with a GPS
monitor. Presumably she would
have done the same on January
7 or 8.
So a month was
wasted.
Magistrate Judge
Wang noted a "speedy
presentment issue" but ordered
no specific
action.
Eaddy is set to appear before
District Judge Sidney H. Stein
on February 10 at 11 am.
The case is
USA v. Eaddy, 1:21-cr-249
(Stein / Wang)
