SDNY COURTHOUSE,
June 23 –
Isidore
Handler,
Martin
Handler,
Menachem
Lieberman,
Harold
Schwartz and
Ben
Werczberger
were indicted
and then
presented on
January 11
before U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York
Magistrate
Judge Robert
W. Lehrburger.
Inner
City Press was
there, the
only media in
the Mag Court.
There was an
argument about
the defendants
phones being
searched, see
below.
The charges
include wire
fraud, theft
of government
funds,
aggravated
identity theft
and money
laundering.
Jump
cut after much
litigation to
October 2,
2024, when

On
Menachem
Lieberman,
docketed on
June 2, 2025
this: "The
Government
respectfully
writes briefly
regarding the
letter filed
by the
defendant
yesterday "to
respond to the
Government's
presentation
of evidence at
the March 13,
2025 Fatico
hearing." The
US Attorney's
Office's
request went
up to 57
months.
On
June 23, after
covering the
US v. Sean
Combs trial,
Inner City
Press went to
Lieberman's
sentencing,
and spoke with
some of the
many
attendees. His
good works
were
described,
including
exposing
corrupt law
enforcement,
and starting a
volunteer EMS
service in
Montreal.
Still, prison
time was
called for and
Judge Rearden
sentenced him
to 52 months
in prison, and
a $200,000
fine. Thread here.
The
case is USA v.
Handler, et
al., 1:23-cr-4
(Rearden)
