UN GATE,
May 24 – How corrupt is the
UN-world system under Antonio
Guterres, who bans the Press
which investigates? This
example is again from ITU,
International
Telecommunication Union, whose
whistleblowers have, like
others, reached out to banned
Inner City Press:
Dear Matthew
Russell Lee:
The Silence
of OIOS: A Case of Double Standards
The Office of Internal Oversight Services
(OIOS), the UN’s internal watchdog
mandated to investigate misconduct, has
reportedly been formally informed about
these allegations. However, OIOS has
failed to act-no investigation has been
opened, and no explanation has been
given. The contrast is striking when
compared to other recent cases.
Take Mr. Karim Khan, the former Chief
Prosecutor of the International Criminal
Court. Once a formal harassment
complaint was filed against him, OIOS
opened an investigation, and Khan was
placed on administrative leave. So
why the inaction in the case of Doreen
Bogdan-Martin? Why is one official
immediately sidelined while another
remains shielded, despite equally grave
allegations-backed by formal findings?
This is a trend in
the UN world institutions
under Antonio Guterres,
and will not be
fixed by or under
him, as he continues to
ban the Press that asks.
More coming.
After repeated
refusal to respond by
spokespeople including
Stephane Dujarric and Melissa
Fleming, here was the first
complaint on Inner City Press'
DocumentCloud here.
