UN GATE,
April 15 – How corrupt is the
UN system under Antonio
Guterres? Today we turn once
again to UNIDO:
"Dear Matthew
Lee, We are writing to
urgently bring to your
attention serious concerns
regarding the mismanagement
and potential misappropriation
of European Union funds
allocated to the United
Nations Industrial Development
Organization (UNIDO).
Our efforts reporting Ygor
Scarcia internally to UNIDO
Human Resources and the
Internal Oversight Directorate
have gone in vain. So:
The United Nations is ensnared in a
maelstrom following revelations of
transnational embezzlement led by Ygor
Scarcia. Somali whistleblowers allege Scarcia
diverted $800,000 in UNDP funds through Somali
banks-
Inner City Press
reported that, and more, in November 2024. Now
in April 2025, Die
Welt
naming only Gerd Müller: "the
story began with an email in July
2023. Unido officials were
actually about to transfer
€687,000 to a Somali bank. The
proceeds were to be used to grant
loans according to "the principles
of Islamic banking"
-
Well, no. The story began with
Inner City Press : ) And now there's
more:
With the UN still refusing
to answer any questions,
whistleblowers tell
Inner City Press Ygor
Scarcia is accused of
deliberately manipulating
the hiring process to
install an
individual alleged by the
whistleblowers, unrebutted by
the UN, as
tied to Al-Shabaab—into a
sensitive L3 position in
Mogadishu. Whistleblowers
revealed L3 position
Industrial Development
Expert, Requisition ID:
5549, was arranged for
the
individual, with
Micheal Connely, UNIDO’s
Director of Human
Resources, allegedly
masterminding his the
process to ensure
selection. Ygor Scarcia is
secretly preparing to
provide him with
interview questions ahead
of time. Appointing
a candidate with suspected
terrorist ties to a key UN
role—particularly one with
access to misappropriate
funds within a failing
UNIDO— is typical of Antonio
Guterres.
Keep it coming.
Though Inner City Press
remains banned
by Guterres and no response by
his Melissa Fleming to this,
we continue reporting - keep
it coming. And watch this
site.
