Trail of False Checks By Mally Was For Mother Now DoorDash Until 6 Months Concurrent

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 7 – Alfarabick Mally pled guilty to crack sales in Maine in 2012 and was sentenced to 84 months imprisonment and five years of supervised release. Things have not gone well.

On August 6, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Laura Taylor Swain was to hold a remote proceeding on a violation of supervised release. Inner City Press dialed in to cover it.   But Skype for Business didn't work.

Mally since his release and move to New York fraudulently withdrew $5,250 in Manhattan. He was sentenced to three months in a halfway house in Brooklyn.

Two days after he was released, he deposited two false checks. He is on bail in New York State court.

On August 7, Judge Swain held the plea and sentencing. Inner City Press covered it. Judge Swain asked for the New York State docket numbers: 01711-2019 and 04483-2018. Mally spoke movingly, of having done what he did to help his mother, and now working for DoorDash.

Judge Swain imposed a sentence of six months - but concurrent to whatever New York State sentenced. Not to begin until December 3.

The case is US v. Mally, 18-cr-807 (Swain)
