Former Trump Advocate Delgado Sues Trump Campaign and Spicer For Pregnancy Discrimination

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC - Guardian UK - Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Dec 23 – A former spokesperson and even surrogate for Donald J. Trump, A.J. Delgado, on December 23 sued the Trump campaign and officials ranging from Sean Spicer to Reince Priebus for discrimination she faced she says after she became pregnant by then Trump staffer Justin Miller. Then they reneged on a settlement.

Hence the suit filed just before Christmas, when the U.S. District Court for Southern District of New York was nearly empty but for Inner City Press.

From the complaint: "In mid-November 2016, Plaintiff DELGADO learned that she became pregnant by her supervisor, Jason Miller.

21. Plaintiff informed Miller, who told her that she could not be seen “waddling around the White House pregnant.”

22. Around December 21, 2016, Plaintiff DELGADO emailed Defendant BANNON and senior Campaign and TFA Advisor Kellyanne Conway to inform them of her pregnancy.  23. Around December 22, 2016, Defendant BANNON accepted the news about Plaintiff DELGADO’s pregnancy and told her someone would call by the end of the day, but no one did.

24. On December 26, 2016, Plaintiff spoke with Defendant SPICER on the phone. Defendant SPICER discouraged Plaintiff from pursuing White House employment due to her status as a pregnant woman and a first-time mother.

25. Defendant SPICER told Plaintiff DELGADO that the White House is “no place for a new mom.”

Perhaps not surprisingly on December 23, various phone calls were not returned. We'll have more on this. The case is Delgado v. Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., et al, 19-cv-11764 (SDNY). More on Patreon here.
