As ISIS Suspect Zachary Clark Pleads Guilty  Secrecy In Other SDNY Cases Misused

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon
BBC The Times (UK) Honduras - The Source

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Aug 10 – An ISIS suspect was presented on the afternoon of November 27, 2019 in  U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Court - which earlier that same day was the locale of a total lack of transparency, inconsistent and at odds with not only the law but this presentation:

"The Department of Justice today announced that Zachary Clark, 40, was arrested today in Brooklyn, New York.  Clark is charged in a criminal Complaint with attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, and distributing bomb-making instructions.  Clark is expected to be presented later today before Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger in Manhattan federal court."

In this Clark / ISIS case, the Department of Justice announced its prosecution and included photos in it. But earlier on November 27 a defendant was brought in with no docket number given.

Assistant US Attorneys Michael Longyear and a colleague said quietly to Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger that they had made a "written application" in connection with the arraignment which they did not describe.

Judge Lehrburger paused then said he was granting the written application, which he also did not describe. Inner City Press went to the office it has been directed to go with question and asked for the docket number.

Inner City Press was told that there was no number, one would have to inquire with a District Judge, whose door was locked.

Perhaps this defendant, who Inner City Press has still not named, is a cooperator. Perhaps he - or she, we'll say - is the first of a still sealed indictment. But this cannot be accepted. Nor can the "withdrawal" of documents submitted in a criminal case, which triggered a hearing.

Now now, on August 10, 2020, from the US Attorney's office, this: "announced that ZACHARY CLARK, a/k/a “Umar Kabir,” a/k/a “Umar Shishani,” a/k/a “Abu Talha,” pled guilty to attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (“ISIS”).  CLARK pled guilty today in Manhattan federal court before U.S. District Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald.  CLARK is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Buchwald on February 9, 2021, at 12:00 p.m." Watch this site.
