African American NYPD Officer Sued Over Highway Patrol Unit Bias Now Discovery

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC-Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN NY Mag

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Sept 9 – Andre Sce, an African-American member of NYPD's Highway Patrol, as sued the City of New York for discrimination.

He alleges, among other things, that a Captain Timothy Morgan insisted on calling his fiancee a "perp."

On April 27, 2022 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Denise L. Cote held an in-person proceeding. Inner City Press went and covered it.

Judge Cote set a schedule including moving for summary judgment by November 18. Before that, she is referring the case for settlement talks to Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses.

Jump cut to September 2022: Judge Cote held a proceeding on September 2, and Inner City Press again covered it. Judge Cote ordered a status letter by September 7. In that submission, Sce sought discovery on disciplinary measures that did not amount to "formal charges." Judge Cote was more detail on that.

The case is Sce v. City Of New York, et al., 16-cv-7577 (Cote)
