With UN Retaliation Profiled Inner City Press Audio Cited by UN Staff, Dudley On Way Out

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell Book
BBC-Guardian UK - Honduras - ESPN NY Mag

UN GATE, June 20, Exclusive – The UN's retaliation is not limited to banning the Press that Secretary General Antonio Guterres doesn't like - he also fired and penalizes UN staff who dare speak out about the Organization's abuses.

On June 16, a week before a documentary on the topic that's said to include leaked audio first published by Inner City Press, Inner City Press asked UN Spokespeople Stephane Dujarric, Farhan Haq and Melissa Fleming:

"What are the comments and actions if any of SG Guterres on the BBC piece about UN whistleblowers being retaliated against, set for worldwide view on June 21 but presumably already in the SG's awareness? See this."

While Team Guterres has not answered, other parts of the UN system are said to be preparing damage control. Then there's these reports to Inner City Press from within the UN:  Michael Dudley is leaving OIOS.  Why would he do that at this time?

Dudley has wanted the UN "D-2" post since he joined OIOS more than 15 years ago, and that post has still not been filled.  Dudley is 59. He has not reached retirement age, even in the UN, so why would he go now?  Has he been paid off?

Dudley was always protected by Catherine Pollard, so now with her on her way out, did she approve a generous financial pay-out for Dudley while she still could?  Did Dudley realize he could not survive without her and so took the opportunity to run while he still could?

Michael Dudley is married to Mercedes Gervilla, Head of Conduct & Discipline - the unit that publishes the minimalist data dumps about UN rapes that Guterres and his spokespeople Stephane Dujarric and Farhan Haq then cover up.  Any news of movements with her post at this time cannot be dismissed as yet another “co-incidence.”

Also, Ben Swanson -- who was promoted to ASG thanks to Catherine Pollard, and who has still not appointed a new Investigations Director -- has told staff in OIOS that the documentary next week (that Inner City Press has asked Dujarric and Haq about, without answer) will include a secret audio recording of him -- a recording exclusively first published by Inner City Press.

On the morning of June 20, Inner City Press in writing asked Guterres, Melissa Fleming and Stephane Dujarric - as well as UNSC President Albania - about the above. Nothing. Now this, exclusively published by Inner City Press:

And to recognize that your senior management and the Secretary General will do anything to protect Mr. Swanson by ignoring his continual violations of the Staff Rules and Regulations allowing him to act with impunity, while sanctioning and firing others for far less.

Dear Mr. Secretary General and UN officials  We have just learned that Mr. Dudley is leaving OIOS.   Recalling Mr. Swanson's comments about Mr. Dudley in January 2016,  " "If I can't get this sorted by the end of the week the Division is fucked for the next five years"  Based on the promotion to ASG that you gave to Mr. Swanson last year, it seems that swearing in UN email, and smearing your colleagues on video and audio is not only condoned, but encouraged by your offices.  It is in fact a serious violation of the Staff Regulations, harassment under ST/SGB/2019/8 and misuse of ICT resources under ST/SGB/2004/15.   Why is Mr Swanson not on Administrative Leave without pay pending disciplinary action like what you do to others?  Or does he have too much information on all of you that you are cowering in fear as to what he may do if you do try to hold him accountable?

Like in the "Hands down the pants" which was also captured on audio where Mr. Swanson talked about a female D-1 who was sexually assaulted by an ASG where you Mr. Secretary-General cut him off from talking about it?  Why?  We also look forward to hearing Mr. Swanson's voice on the recording to be played on the BBC documentary on 21 June 2022 regarding UN whistleblowers and how his revolutionary sworn statement method of dealing with investigations in retaliation cases "keeps the Americans off our backs".   How is this miscreant still being employed by the UN and worse, being promoted.  We hope that the BBC documentary brings this behavior under the full glare of the public spotlight, just like the NY Times article did with Ms. Grete Faremo from UNOPS where you were finally forced to take action and fire her."

We'll have more on this.
