SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
May 18 – Senator Bob Menendez
was indicted for Egypt-related
corruption on September 22,
2023.
When he held a
press conference three days
later on September 25, media
including Qatar state media Al
Jazeera attended (though no
questions were taken).
On January
2, 2024 in a second
superseding indictment,
Menendez was charged with
corruption for Qatar.
When the trial
began in May, with for example
the UK Independent and India's
WION covered it, nowhere to be
seen was Al Jazeera, so well
funded by the Qatar royal
family.
Inner City
Press, which Al Jazeera's UN
Bureau (chief) helped get
thrown out of the UN amid its
questioning AJE's insider
status with UN Secretary
General Antonio Guterres, now
questioning the absence of Al
Jazeera from this Qatar
corruption trial.
To date, no
explanation has been offered,
neither on AJE's role in
censorship at and by the UN,
from which Inner City Press
remains banned. Journalism is
