To Tax Fraud in 2015 Emmanuel Skountzos Pled Guilty Now US Wants 3 Years Probation

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 1 – Without prior announcement, and without a docket number, Emmanuel Skountzos pleaded guilty to tax crimes on September 13, 2023 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave. Inner City Press was the only media there.

Skountzos allocuted to under-reporting over $300,000 in taxes in 2015. The AUSA added that he used check cashing stores in Manhattan. (Since the case is or was not in PACER, research on the Internet indicates he's based in Brooklyn).

His plea deal is for 18 to 24 months. The AUSA said the case has been referred to District Judge Paul G. Gardephe.

On January 4, Richard S. Kestenbaum wrote to Judge Gardephe that "As I am a Village Judge, I am required to tour the Nassau County Jail annually which had been scheduled for 5:30 pm." He wants the sentencing at 2 "which would give me sufficient time to timely arrive at the jail tour." Judge to judge.

On January 23 he filed Skountzos' sentencing submission, asking for no jail time: "I respectfully pray that this Court not imprison Skountzos," citing his seven children and W-2s from a plumbing company.

On February 1 the UN Attorney's Office wrote in to request three years probation, 150 hours of community service and restitution.

For now the case is US v. Skountzos, 23-cr-473 (Gardephe)
