SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
March 25 – A man convicted in
a drug case Inner City Press
previously reported on
reappeared on a violation of
supervised release on March
25, before U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
James L. Cott. Inner
City Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag court.
He was
charged with forcible touching
of a 14 year old girl. His
lawyer emphasized that it was
"in a private apartment," that
if released he would not be a
danger to people on the
subway, for example.
The
Assistant US Attorney replied
that there was an open NYPD
"iCard" about forcible
touching in the Lexington
Avenue and 125th Street subway
station.
The defense
said, That is going to be
dismissed on April 11, my
client tells me. Probation
said the ADA on the case
hadn't said that.
The defense
said in the MDC, given the
charged, the defendant might
be put in segregation. Judge
Cott called that speculative,
and ordered detention.
The overall
case is US v. Johnson,
et al., 16-cr-281 (Gardephe /
Cott)
