SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 14 – Jeanette Ramos
stole $250,000 from Local
223's pension fund. She pled
guilty and faced 18 to 24
months in prison.
On March
14, 2023 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge John P.
Cronan held her sentencing.
Inner City Press went and
covered it.
An official
from the union spoke, about
the harm caused by her theft.
When Ramos spoke
for herself, she turned about
and apologized to him, and
greeted her two daughters in
the gallery, tell them she
loved them, "whatever
happens."
After taking a short break in
the robing room, Judge Cronan
emerged to impose a sentence
of time served (the daughters
nodded), with community
service and restitution (the
union man nodded).
The case is
US v. Ramos, 21-cr-756
(Cronan)
