Florida Man Charged with Securities Fraud Says He Drives Workers to Landscaping, Gets Bailed

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Nov 30 – Michael Castillero was arrested at 7 am on November 30 and presented in the afternoon before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Sarah L. Cave. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court.   Castillero had a retained lawyer, but making only a limited appearance until terms are agreed, he said.

DOJ had announced "the unsealing of an Indictment charging MICHAEL CASTILLERO, a/k/a Michael Alejandro, FRANCINE LANAIA, and BRIAN MARTINSEN with conspiracy, securities fraud, wire fraud, and investment adviser fraud in connection with their management of StraightPath Venture Partners LLC... CASTILLERO and MARTINSEN are also charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice in connection with their deletion of records that had been subpoenaed by the SEC."

On November 30 Castillero was said to drive workers to landscaping jobs, and to have an expire Panama passport, and licensed guns. The latter two have to be turned in; he was released on $250,000 unsecured bond. There is no conference for him until May 22, 2024.

The case is US v. Castillero, et al., 23-cr-622 (Furman)
