Four Men Charged in Bronx Drug Conspiracy Year of Buys Now on Watson US Wants 18 Mo

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, June 7 – Police used pole cameras to video record crack cocaine purposes from Anthony Smalls and three others in the North Bronx from April 2022 into 2023, a Federal complaint and now indictment allege.

On May 23, 2023, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Jennifer L. Rochon held an arraignment and initial pre-trial conference with the four defendants and their lawyers. Inner City Press went and covered it, the only media (and only civilian) in the courtroom.

The Assistant US Attorney said of the phones seized, one has yet to be cracked. Other than that, discovery will be produced by July 20, when Judge Rochon set the next conference.

Why the controlled buys continued for so long without any arrest was not explained.

The four defendants sat in the jury box, with US Marshals behind them. Each pleaded not guilty. At the end one called his lawyer over; she emerged and answered that there was nothing further needed in the proceeding.

On January 24, 2024, co-defendant Codie Lewis pled guilty, with sentencing set for April 25 at 10 am.

On February 9, co-defendant Shoria Moore pled guilty, with a sentencing date of May 9 at noon.

On April 17, co-defendent Lewis asked for time served.

On April 18, the US Attorney's Office wrote in that 12 to 18 month imprisonment would be sufficient. The sentencing is set for April 25 at 12:15 pm.

On April 24, the US Attorney's Office asked for a 37 month sentence when Anthony Smalls is sentenced.

On May 1, Smalls get just that: 37 months, requesting designation to a facility in or near Philadelphia, PA.

On April 25, co-Defendant Shoria Moore wrote in to ask for time served on May 9.

On May 9 Shoria Moore was sentenced to 41 months with FCI Fort Dix, with its RDAP drug treatment program, recommended.

On May 31, co-defendant Russell Watson asked for a time served sentence, on a Guideline of 57 to 71 months. Sentencing is set for June 13 at 3:30 pm.

On June 7, the US Attorney's Office on co defendant Watson asked for 18 months.

The case is US v. Smalls, et al., 23-cr-237 (Rochon)
