SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 25 – Iszayah
Rowson was
arrested in
The Bronx on
March 5, 2022
with a Taurus
USA Model TX22
pistol that
had been
reported
stolen in
Henrico
County,
Virginia the
month before.
Rowson
had
been
previously
convicted of a
felony, so the
case was
Federalized.
Rowson, also a
musician under
the name Zay
Munna,
was ordered
detained.
On
April 3, 2023
U.S. District
Court for the
Southern
District of
New York Judge
Paul A.
Engelmayer
held a
proceeding.
Inner City
Press went and
covered
it.
Rowson's
lawyer
describe a
large volume
of discovery.
The
AUSA noted
that this case
is related, in
part, to a
five-defendant
case before
Judge Lewis J.
Liman, which
involves Kevin
Perez a/k/a
Kay Flock.
Both appear in
a music video the
US Attorney's
Office cited
in seeking a
181 month
sentence to be
imposed on
Rowson.
At the
sentencing
on March 25,
2024,
Judge Engelmayer
read
some of the many
letters of
support, then
said he'd shot
four people, one
in the face. He
imposed a
sentence of
168 months of
16 years (two
of which are
already been
served in the
MDC). He chided the
US Attorney's
Office for not
addressing in
its sentencing
submission the
conditions in
the MDC.
Still, some
walked out just
after the
sentence was
imposed. Inner
City Press was
stay on the
case(s).
This
case
is US v.
Rowson, et
al., 22-cr-310
(Engelmayer)
