Man Charged With Crack and Guns Has 1st of 2 Back to Back SDNY Trials WYA Unexplained

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, April 10 – Jonathan Torres is on trial, the first of two this month. On April 10 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge John G. Koeltl, jurors were shown text messages with objections sustained to explaining what "WYA" means.  Inner City Press was there, the only media in the courtroom.

The prosecution's expert witness Alfred Hernandez testified how crack is sold.

The complaint describes a vial full of crack found incident to arrest, in the 40th Precinct in The Bronx. There have been suppression motions, and there will be a second trial right after, starting April 15.

The case is  US v. Torres, 23-cr-395 (Koeltl)
