Charged with Armed Robbery of Smoke Shop in Harlem Man Faces January 2025 Trial in SDNY

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, July 2 – Charged with the armed robbery of a smoke shop in Harlem on September 11, 2023, a defendant was brought on July 2 before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge John G. Koeltl to have a trial date set. Inner City Press was there, the only media in that courtroom.

The Federal Defender said he may file a motion challenging the search of the defendant's cell phone and photos - many of which appear in the complaint, including a display of cash in a high-rise apartment that appears to be in Florida.

Judge Koeltl chose January 14, 2025 at the date to start a week-long trial, with defendant's motions due on August 22.

The case is US v. Allen, 23-cr-681 (Koeltl)
