SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 6 – Four members
of the LaForest family were
charged with embezzling $17
million from an electrical
contracting
company.
On January 11, 2022 U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Judge Colleen McMahon
held a conference. Inner City
Press covered it.
Judge
McMahon asked about defense
motions.
Reference was
made to the Secret Service
lab.
Jump cut to July
13, 2023. After pleas, on July
13 Judge McMahon imposed
sentenced in the case. 78
months for Sabitri LaForest
and 55 months for Garry
LaForest.
On February 26,
2024, Sanjay LaForest asked
for a sentence of time served,
citing a "disturbing
upbringing... his father had a
terrible temper."
On April 4, the
US Attorney's Office requested
21 months for Tantiana
LaForest, and 15 months for
Sanjay, both scheduled to be
sentenced on April 11.
