Man Got Stay of Remand for Bank Robbery with Banks Being Closed Noted Now 2d Plea

By Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Maxwell book

SDNY COURTHOUSE, Feb 28 – Ronald Adams was charged with robbing $500 by threatening a bank employee in The Bronx, at 371 East 149th Street. He entered the bank and said he had a gun.

On February 28, 2023 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York  Magistrate Judge James L. Cott held a change of plea proceeding. Inner City Press covered the plead proceeding, here - and a subsequent Friday, June 16 bail hearing, after another alleged bank robbery. Remanded was stayed until June 20 after Adams' lawyer noted that banks are closed until then.

Here was Inner City Press' thread:

OK - now at lunch hour bail revocation hearing on man who, while awaiting sentencing for bank robbery, committed another bank robbery - allegedly. Defense lawyer says District Judge has no jurisdiction.

Federal Defender asks to delay sentencing for admitted bank robbery, to investigate second (denied) bank robbery, says DOJ has agreed. Also says TD bank is stealing his Social Security.

Judge: Remand (to jail) is warranted. [No US Marshals here]

Federal Defender: How about a stay until Tuesday? Banks are closed until then.

Judge: While where there's a will there's a way, granted.

The original complaint has two photos of him - masked, but then going into an apartment of which he is the only resident, on 137th Street. There is also evidence from the NYPD Latent Print Section.

Adams plead guilty to count 1, with a sentencing control date of June 27. It was said that might be extended, to investigate the new alleged bank robbery, with Adams in the MDC.

On November 27, 2023, Adams signed a consent to plead guilty before a Magistrate Judge in the second case (the first case's sentences has been delayed).

On Inner City Press will stay on the cases.

The first case is US v. Adams, 23-cr-109 (Marrero)

The new case is US v. Adams, 23-cr-618 (Marrero)
