SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
Nov 27 – Edwin Rivera
was arrested and charged
federally as a felon in
possession of a gun, along
with fentanyl.
On November
27 he was brought before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Saral L.
Cave. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag Court.
The
prosecution asked for
detention, saying the drugs
were distribution quality and
the gun was expensive.
The Federal
Defender said Rivera is 62
years old and has 18 birds -
and that he found the
gun.
Judge Cave said
Rivera could be released on
bond, but only after one of
two suretors sign.
Rivera, near
tears and appearing to shiver,
said he needed to get back to
his phone. But the Federal
Defender, he was told, has his
apartment keys. And, one
hopes, bird seed.
The case, still
under seal an hour later, is
US v. Rivera, 23-mj-7277
(Cave)
