SDNY COURTHOUSE,
April 12– Christian Lora was
charged with the armed robbery
of the apartment of a
marijuana dealer in the Bronx.
On March
15, 2023 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Magistrate Judge
Katharine H. Parker held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
went and covered it.
It
was said Lora is nearing a
guilty plea. But in the
interim, he has medical issues
which, his lawyers argued,
militate against him being
detained. In the complaint,
Lora is described as shot in
the arm, and taken to Lincoln
Hospital.
Judge
Parker agreed, saying he could
be released with a GPS
bracelet - installed right
after the two-part proceeding.
She said she would take the
guilty plea on April 21, in
Courtroom 17D.
In fact,
Lora pleaded guilty before
Judge Marrero. He reappeared
before Magistrate Judge Parker
on August 15, 2023 at 10 am.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the SDNY Mag
Court.
Lora was
facing remand after having
thrown a bag of drugs away
when facing drug testing.
Judge Parker ordered him
remanded - then after a
sidebar asked that he be kept
in the courthouse until 2 pm
while alternatives were being
explored.
It was past
5 pm when it was resolved.
Lora would be remanded, but to
Hudson County Correctional
Facility, not the MDC. A
doctor had conducted an
evaluation and found remand
medically acceptable.
On April 12,
2024, the US Attorney's Office
wrote in asking for a total
sentence for Lora of 87
months, on April 19.
The case is
US v. Lora, 22-cr-595 (Marrero
/ Parker)
