COURTHOUSE,
Jan 24 – Tyler Michie was
observed with a gun in the
lobby of a housing project in
Castle Hill, The Bronx on
December 20, 2023, on both
NYCHA video and
InstagramLive.
On December 27 he
was presented before U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Barbara C.
Moses. Inner City Press was
there, the only media in the
SDNY Mag court.
The complaint,
which remained sealed long
after the proceeding, recounts
that "because videos broadcast
via Instagram Live are not
generally retained,
individuals who engage in
crimes sometimes elect to
communicate about crimes using
Instagram Live."
It then
goes on to describe the
filming of a music video, to
which Michie brought a gun.
When arrested, they found
crack.
Michie on
December 27 was detained on
consent. On December 29, the
complaint was unsealed.
On January 24,
2024, the case was indicted
and assigned to District Judge
Jennifer H. Rearden
The case is
US v. Michie, 24-cr-43
(Rearden)
