SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 1 –
Seven
defendants
were arrested
in early 2016
for ATM
skimming, from
The Bronx to
Las Vegas and
elsewhere.
On March 1,
2023 in the
U.S. District
Court for the
Southern
District of
New York, now
Second Circuit
Judge Richard
J. Sullivan
held the
belated
sentencing for
one of the
defendants.
Inner City
Press was
there.
The Assistant
US Attorney,
who said this
had been one
of his first
cases when he
joined the
Office, had
not put his
sentencing
memo in the
docket, and at
the end asked
for the
transcript to
be
sealed.
Contradictorily,
the
restitution
memo IS in the
docket, naming
the belatedly
sentenced
defendant and
two others:
Erbi Kau and
Bledar Batska.
On
the record -
that is to
say, in open
court - he
referred to an
ongoing
investigation
in the Eastern
District.
Judge
Sullivan,
along with
granting the
requested time
served
sentence,
asked for
filings on
sealing within
30 days.
The
overall case
is US v.
Prelaj, et
al., 16-cr-55
(Sullivan)
