Michelle Foley Stole From Non Profit Then Absconded Now Gets 16 Months in Prison

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, March 28 – After conviction of stealing $150,000 from a non-profit organization, Michelle Foley got a condition of her supervised release removed. Then she absconded.

The US Attorney's Office wrote in 2020, "the defendant has absconded from supervision."

On March 24, 2023 U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Victor Marrero held a proceeding. Inner City Press was present, the only media in the courtroom, and covered it.

Judge Marrero sentenced Foley to time served, three more years of supervised - and eight months of home detention.

Nearly a year later on March 22, 2024 the US Attorney's Office wrote to Judge Marrero asked that on March 28 he impose 21 more months imprisonment, writing "she has twice absconded from supervision, and she has defrauded additional victims before her most recent arrest."

On March 28, Judge Marrero sentenced her to 16 months in prison, followed by a year of supervised release.

The case is US v. Foley, 18-cr-521 (Marrero)
