Man Charged
With Pistol Was Told To Lower His Hood
Then Fired Shots US Asks 84 Months

SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 9 – Malik McCollum is
charged with being a felon in
possession of a firearm, to
whit, a .25 caliber
semiautomatic pistol with
serial number
042284.
On December 22, U.S. District
Court for the Southern
District of New York
Judge Analisa Torres held a
proceeding. Inner City Press
covered it.
The proceeding
was by video; Inner City Press
called in on the public line.
McCollum was released on
$150,000 bond on December 9
and his time to finalize
co-signers was extended to
December 23.
On December 22,
2021 Judge Torres asked
McCollum to lower his hood so
she could see him better.
Jump-cut to April
25, 2024 - McCollum, while on
bail in the case, was
"captured on closed circuit
surveillance firing a gun down
a street in the Bronx." Now
his Federal Defender is asking
for 42 months.
On May 9, the US
Attorney's Office asked for at
least 84 months. Sentencing is
set for May 21 - and Judge
Torres has asked for
additional briefing by May 14
on the guidelines.
