SDNY
COURTHOUSE,
March 20 – A man charged with
shooting a gun near Penn
Station in Manhattan, after a
felony conviction, was
presented on March 20 before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Gary Stein.
Inner City Press was there,
the only media in the SDNY Mag
Court.
The AUSA
asked for detention based on
danger. But the Federal
Defender pointed out the
unreliability of the cell site
data, and the identification
through sweatpants.
The AUSA
said while he's not 19, the
sweatpants were unique, with
Gothic writing down the side.
Judge Stein was not impressed:
he granted release on $50,000
bond, with the defendant to
continue working in a music
studio in Brooklyn.
He's a rapper,
like several SDNY defendants
coming up for sentencing in
coming weeks. Inner City
Press, which covered the
Tekashi 6ix9ine trial, is on
the cases.
This one is
US v. Samuels, 23-mj-947
(Stein)
