Man Working in NYC Schools Arrested for Illegal Child Photos Released to Mother Upstate

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY EXCLUSIVE, May 1 – A defendant said to work in schools in New York City was arrested and presented on May 1 with illegal images of children on his phone. He appeared before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Barbara C. Moses. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag Court, thread:

OK- now in SDNY Magistrates court, just back from Harvey Weinstein appearance in state court, here the case of an NYC Board of Ed employee charged with [illegal] images of children on his phone. As prosecutor lists contents, defendant shakes his head...

Judge: The Adam Walsh Act requires a curfew. There is a concern about potential hands-on contact.  [Court takes a break.

While no case number is assigned yet, it appears this defendant  has worked with "the likes of Liz Swados, Kent Gash & Stafford Arima," etc  Defendant's mother was not in the courtroom, but out in the hall. Now she comes in, a potential third-party custodian.

Judge: Do you know the charges against your son?

Mother: No, I do not.

Nevertheless, the mother was deemed a third-party custodian and the defendant ordered released to her home in Albany once conditions - two financially responsible co-signers - were met.

The case is US v. Souza, 24-mj-1732 (Moses)
