Horton Was Charged with 9mm Shell Casing as a Felon Now Pleads Guilty to Count 4

by Matthew Russell Lee, Patreon Book Substack

SDNY COURTHOUSE, May 9 – Javaughn Horton, a felon, is charged with being in possession of a 9mm caliber shell casing.

On October 24, 2023 Horton was brought for arraignment before U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Magistrate Judge Katharine H. Parker. Inner City Press was there, the only media in the SDNY Mag court.

Horton pleaded not guilty.  The prosecutor said on this felon in possession charge, they would seek detention.

Horton's CJA lawyer said he was consenting to detention.

On December 11, co-defendant Markel Eure was brought into the SDNY Magistrates Court. Inner City Press was there. Eure consented to detention on the Hobbs Act robbery conspiracy charges.

On December 19, Horton not before Judge Clarke but rather Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein pled not guilty to four counts, 1s, 2s, 3s and 4s.

On May 9, 2024 Horton pleaded guilty to Count 4s, with sentencing set for August 8 at 11 am.

The case is US v. Horton, et al., 23-cr-526 (Clarke / Gorenstein)
