SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Nov 22 – Natalie Sanchez
worked at S&P Global for
more than 30 years. Then, she
says, sexual harassment got
her fired.
On November 22,
2023 there was an oral
argument on summary judgment
before U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York Judge Amit Sumramanian.
Inner City Press was there.
Sanchez was too, by Microsoft
Teams.
Judge
Sumaranian zeroed in a
$123,000 S&P Global paid
Sanchez. Was it under a
severance agreement, including
a release of claims? Or was
it, as her counsel now said
she thought, under a severance
plan that applied to all
employees?
Either way, Judge
Sumramanian said, equitable
principles of estoppel or
quantum meruit might
apply.
The issue was not
resolved on November 22. Judge
Subramanian said he would take
the motion under advisement
and rule soon.
He asked if the
parties would like to "take
the room" - presumably with
Inner City Press gone from it
- and discuss settlement. This
did not happen; the size of
the demand, and gap, was
discretely not stated.
The case is
Sanchez v. S&P Global,
Inc., et al., 23-cv-576
(Subramanian)
