SDNY COURTHOUSE,
May 20 – Alhasana
Hydara was
sentenced to
two years in
prison on
April 9, 2021,
on bank fraud
charges, with
three years of
supervised
released.
On
August 3,
2023, detained
while awaiting
a violation of
supervised
release
proceeding he
consented to
adjourn to
September 1,
Hydara through
CJA counsel
argued to be
released on
bond.
The
argument was
before U.S.
District Court
for the
Southern
District of
New York
Magistrate
Judge James L.
Cott. Inner
City Press was
there.
The
prosecutor
quoted from
jail calls
recorded in
Rikers Island,
saying Hydara
had tried to
get another to
take
responsibility
for a gun. The
defense said
if so, that
wouldn't prove
the gun was
his client's.
But Judge Cott
said detention
would
continue, and
could be
revisited
September 1
before
District Judge
Victor
Marrero, or
the Part 1
Judge before
then.
On
February 16,
2024,
co-defendant
Moukhamede
Fall wrote it
asking for
time served
with six
months home
confinement in
advance of
sentencing set
for February
23.
On
May 20, Judge
Marrero signed
a redacted
order
commanding
that records
of the NYC Law
Department at
900 Sheridan
Avenue in The
Bronx be
delivered to
SDNY on or
before May 24.
