SDNY COURT
EXCLUSIVE, Feb 6 - In
the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New
York on December 2, 2022 a
detention or bond proceeding
was held by Magistrate Judge
Stewart D. Aaron on a man
charged with selling guns to
two men already in state
custody for plans to "shoot up
a synagogue," Christopher
Brown, 21, and Matthew Mahrer,
22.
Presented
in Federal court on December 2
was defendant / gun-seller
Jamil Hakime, who works with
detained youth at the NYC
Administration for Children's
Services. Inner City Press was
present, the only media (and
only non-involved person)
there. Live-tweeted

Jumpt cut to
January 24, 2023: the case has
been indicted, and wheeled out
to Judge Analisa Torres. She
held a proceeding, and Inner
City Press attended. Discovery
is ongoing; the AUSA said the
phones of the two
co-conspirators are being
reviewed and Hakime will get
some but not all of it.

On January 25,
2024, sentencing was set for
February 6: " ORDER as
to Jamil Hakime: Sentencing in
this matter is SCHEDULED for
February 6, 2024, at 10:00
a.m."
On February 6,
Inner City Press went, thread:
Judge: I am
considering Judge Furman's
recent decision in US v Chavez
on the conditions in the
MDC-Brooklyn jail... Mr Hakime
has not been provided with the
right water for his sleep
apnea machine. But the gun he
sold had an extended magazine.
Judge: Mr
Hakime's conduct was reckless.
The guidelines don't account
for this, only for altered
serial number or ghost gun. An
upward variance is warranted.
Judge: Mr Hakime,
please rise.... I sentence you
to 27 months in prison. You
forfeit the Glock and the
magazine
Federal Defender:
We object.
Judge: Any notice
of appeal must be filed in 14
days.
