SDNY COURTHOUSE,
March 14 – A man who served
prison time for crimes as part
of a gang in the Millbrook
Houses in the South Bronx was
arrested again in July 2022 as
a felon in possession of a
gun.
On March
14, 2023 U.S. District Court
for the Southern District of
New York Judge Analisa
Torres held his sentencing.
Inner City Press went and
covered it.
The
defense lawyer said when his
client is released this time,
he will be moving out of the
neighborhood, he has put in an
application for a voucher. He
got the gun to protect
himself, since he didn't want
to continue in the gang.
Judge
Torres noted that while out,
he had worked three jobs to
support his now two year old
child. Speaking for himself,
he said he started a business
as well and would like to go
to college when he gets out,
and out of The Bronx.
Judge
Torres imposed a sentence of
18 month, some of it already
served, and six months on the
VOSR, to run concurrent and
not consecutive as the
prosecutor had
requested.
The newer case is
US v. Snipes, 22-cr-418
(Torres)
