SDNY COURTHOUSE,
Feb 23 - In the U.S.
District Court for the
Southern District of New York
on the morning of December 19,
2022 the talk was of flashy
pastor Lamor Whitehead, set to
be presented in the afternoon.
Inner City Press
was present, the only media in
the Mag Court in the morning
for three procedings. Related

On February 23,
on the eve of Whitehead's
trial, an ex parte, in camera
questioning of a journalist
the prosecutors want to force
on to the stand was scheduled.
Inner City Press first tweet here;
from the docket: "Non-party
Eric Lach respectfully submits
this reply in further support
of his motion to quash. The
Government's opposition makes
clear that it finds little
value in this Circuit's
reporter's privilege...
ENDORSEMENT: By 11:59 P.M. on
February 23, 2024, both
parties and non-party Eric
Lach each shall file a letter
stating whether they consent
to the Court interviewing
separately, ex parte, and in
camera (1) defense counsel
regarding Mr. Lach's potential
areas of cross examination,
and (2) Mr. Lach regarding the
likelihood of eliciting
protected information,
including confidential source
material. This inquiry would
likely take place on Monday,
February 26, 2024, at
approximately 5:00 PM after
the jury is excused. (Signed
by Judge Lorna G. Schofield on
2/23/2024)."
In
EDNY, Inner City Press
reported on Whitehead
appearing in the Mag Court
there for two defendants who
robbed him of expensive
watched as he preached.
Then Whitehead
was indicted for defrauding a
parishioner. Indictment on
Inner City Press'
DocumentCloud here.
On June 9, Judge
Schofield denied Whitehead's
suppression motions: as to
Lamor Whitehead: Defendant's
motions for suppression of
statements made to law
enforcement, suppression of
evidence gathered from nine
search warrants and hearings
regarding the credibility of
Victim-2 and the veracity of
the warrant affidavits are
denied. Defendant's request
for oral argument is denied as
moot. (Signed by Judge Lorna
G. Schofield on 6/9/2023)"
On January 12,
2024, the US Attorney's Office
filed a motion in limine
including as "examples of
trial evidence" quotes from
Whitehead to Victim-2 that
"I'll deal with the Mayor's
Office.. But we gotta have
ownership. I gotta be able to
say, 'Yo, yo [nickname for the
Official], I own this. This is
what's goin on."
The case is US v.
Whitehead, 22-cr-692
(Schofield)
