COURTHOUSE,
Feb 7 – Amid a wave of attacks
on US postal workers and theft
of mail, Robert Diaz was
indicted for assault and theft
of a postal key, and was part
of a DOJ press release.
On
February 7, 2024 with no prior
notice Diaz appeared before
U.S. District Court for the
Southern District of New York
Magistrate Judge Barbara
Moses, to plead guilty. Inner
City Press was there, the only
media in the SDNY Mag court.
Diaz pled
guilty to conspiracy. But the
AUSA asked him to allocute to
assault a postal worker, with
others, in The Bronx.
The
Federal Defender said that
shouldn't be necessary, his
client only speaking of his
own overt act(s), not others -
he wanted to make it clear, he
is not a cooperator.
Ultimately
he admitted to grabbing a
postal worker's shirt on July
8, 2022. His sentencing is set
for June 11 at 10 am.
The case
is US v. Diaz, 23-cr-484
(Berman / Moses)
